Dimeji Bankole sneaks into buka to eat Amala

You absolutely won't believe this, but it’s real. The number four citizen of the country and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Dimeji Bankole, was recently caught sneaking into a road side buka in Ikeja, to eat one of his favorites. Seriously!, the speaker defied all protocols as he navigated his way through to Otigba street, Ikeja, Lagos, where he had a lunch of Amala with Gbegiri and Ewedu soup. Many could not believe their eyes when they saw the Speaker walk into the popular Bostai Restaurant, Otigba Strret, Ikeja, famous for amala. Immediately he was sighted, passers-by and traders surged forward to confirm whether the Speaker actually came to have lunch or for another purpose. Societywatch was right there as the Speaker who was decked in his usual white kaftan, came out of the ‘buka’ smiling, looking refreshed and apparently satisfied with the taste of the food. A curious observer immediately accosted him and asked what he had come to do and he said “I have come for lunch and I enjoyed the delicacy,” he said. On how often he visits the place, the Ogun state born speaker said, “I visit here always, and the taste of their food has not changed.”
The operator of the restaurant, Mama Bostai, confirmed to SW that the Speaker is a regular customer of the eatery. “Long before he became the speaker, he has been coming to the restaurant. His father’s house is not far from here.” She however declined further comment on the issue.
If the speaker, the number four citizen of the Country could jettison the exclusive environment and the high-profile restaurant in Abuja and Lagos, to have a lunch of Amala in a buka located in a crowdy area like Otigba street, Computer Village, Ikeja then, the taste of the food must be something else.

The union was solemnized last Thursday, at Our Saviours Church, Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos. The bride, Nadia was looking very good on her day. She looked like a queen with a rare profound beauty that put her in good stead. Fair-skinned and dazzling, no wonder Ike Nwachukwu jnr can do anything for her. Ike too, is every lady’s dream.
The Ike Nwachukwus actually created a special evening to be remembered as the who-is-who were on hand to wish the couple a happy married life with gourmet of menu and drinks that flowed freely. Congratulations!

Bibiana Ohio plays hide and seek!

Since her bitter divorce, the former beauty queen’s appearance in public has been sparsely noticed. The prying eyes of the media had not helped matters too, occasionally lashing out at her and her every move after the devastating experience had been evilly watched. Gossips had waited for the slightest opportunity to trigger off a rumour but then, there had been none! She had recoiled into herself, focusing solely on her job as a broadcaster and raising her daughter.
For a long time, nothing was heard or seen of her. She avoided public red carpet engagements, luncheons and parties where preying eyes lay in wait for her like a plague. Then, she was sighted at the A.M.E.N awards with her daughter Marisa but missed other major award nights and town rocking events. The hide and seek became difficult and we had in fact laid our pen to rest on her before last week, Societywatch’s search light fell on her, on the eve of her departure back to her work base in Abuja. She had been in Lagos for a few weeks of ‘work leave’. A source close to the inner ring that shadowed her, told this reporter that she had been having a time of her life here. When we asked “with whom?” Our source pointed to the heavens and swore in God’s name never to tell. That gave us a clue....you know what I mean. Places she frequented was also not given to us incase we planned to lay ambush on her next visit which we hear is coming very soon. We tried to tail her even for that one night, but for a lady who had beat gossip reporters to their own game, It was impossible! Anyways, our dragnet tightens and we hope we’ll catch her soon, someday.

Gloria Ibru: still the rocking lady!

A million years of weakened bones may be unable to halt this very vivacious and high striking society woman. Even with the waves contemporary naija songs are making, Gloria still wields her tightly organized and talented band; thrilling fun lovers of jazz and slow music in night clubs and open evening garden spots. Gossips who descended on her recently, told this reporter that even though she had not really been consistent with her shows, particularly the one she held every Friday night at De’ Place, she still had it far from her mind to quit because this would mean her leaving the flock of celebrity circles. And believe us, in recent times, the Gloria we’ve seen at some star studded events in and out of the state isn’t a woman who is about to quit.

Comedy in Church

Na waooh! Was the first comment that came from the lips of a young woman who read this flyer with this Society reporter. The content of the flyer is about a popular and well known comedian especially in Surulere. He has been seen on TV a couple of times, drives a Mercedes Benz and was pushed to lime light by a leading comedian who currently runs a comedy live show on TV. This star comedian of ours has really be hustling to host his own comedy show and had actually tried a couple of things like putting up some fairly average performances in the past in street side night clubs and drinking points. But this time around, he took his campaign to the church. This is not strange, especially in Lagos as churches are fast now becoming pulpits for a number of comedians. Show after show are now being organized in collaboration with church pastors as part of a fierce effort at canvassing for members which in some cases had worked. People now actually come to church to laugh! Talk of the end time... Anyways, we wish this comedian good luck in his future gospel-comedy endeavors.
